Water Colour Wednesday . Blue Flower

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is created with the gift that came free with Simply Cards and Papercraft 160

I did a video using this Hydrangea Set set in February for another way to use the stencil that came in the collection

For this card I have created a background with shaving foam and then coloured the stamped flower with water colours

I used a glue pen on the petals and then covered them with silver foil.

The outline to the flower has been done in a pale grey to shadow it and make it stand out from the background a little.

Apology ...

Now before I close todays post I have an apology to make to everybody .... and that is with regards to the floating cup I featured a while ago.

I promised to make a video on how I made this when I was given this pretty tea set by my daughter.

I took out one cup and one saucer to complete the one shown.

Then I put the rest back in the box and put it somewhere safe until I was ready to use it. And now that time has come .... and it's so safe even  I can't find it !!

I wonder how many are nodding at me now knowing that you have done the same thing ????  So once I DO find it I will do a video to show the process.

Water Colour Wednesday - Bird Crazy

Hi Everybody,

I sat and water coloured this fun card in a moment of peace and I really enjoyed the process.

I used a number of techniques to get the background and I like the end result

First I ink smooshed three shades of Distress Inks onto some water colour card and spritzed it with water to lift some of the colour.

I then inked through a stencil with a darker shade to get the circles pattern onto the card on the left side

I added Tonic Studios Embellishment Mousse in silver through a different patterned stencil on the right side and allowed that to dry.

I cut this out with a stitched edge die and added it to a top folded white base card

The bird, which is from the Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Collection,  was water coloured with Gansai Tambi and I hand drew the pattern onto the bird.  I added Glossy Accents to the eyes and then mounted him onto some foam pads.

The sentiment was heat embossed onto some parchment and then added to another circle in white. And finally I dotted some sequins around the card ... Cute or what ????

Water Colour Wednesday - Sunflowers

Hi Everybody,

This image is from the same collection  as the poppies and both are from the Just Inklined CD called the Next Big Thing

This one has been coloured with Gansai Tambi water colours with a faux stitched edge around the circle.

Faux Stitching was a page that I added to my website many years ago but it seems to be having a bit of a comeback at present.

To the flowers I added some Glossy Accents and this tilted photo shows you a little more of the effect.

The yellow ribbon and the enamel dots jut added that finale touch and the finished card is a 6" square.

I mated the image onto yellow and then brown card and then glued the lot to a white base card

The Happy Birthday sentiment has been trimmed into  a banner and added with foam pads to the bottom of the card

Water Colour Wednesday - Poppies

Hi Everybody,

This is another image from the Just Inklined CD called The Next Big Thing and I know that many of you already have this in your collections.

But how long is it since you got it out and had a real good look at what is on the disc.

There are a wealth of images for you to print off and colour and this is one of my all time favorite CD's

So this is Poppies and it has been coloured with Gansai Tambi Water Colours.

Then simply matted and layered with stripy card onto the A2 sized base card

I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto a banner shape of the stripey card and added it with foam underneath, then added in some  enamel dots

And last but not least I used a glue pen to add some detail and allowed it to go tacky.

Over the top I rubbed some silver foil to bring out the shape of the petals.

Simple card for any occasion with just a little water colouring in the process.

Water Colour Wednesday - Albert

Hi Everybody,

Strictly speaking ... not a water colour at all but still done by me

This wonderful character is Albert from the Just Inklined CD called The Next Big Thing which sadly is now no longer around

There are so many wonderful images on this disc and it is such a shame that it has been discontinued

I coloured this quite some time ago and I really love this old man.

He is coloured with a mixture of Spectrum Noir pens and I have used this image of  him  many times in the past.

So I hope you will forgive the fact that he is not water coloured and enjoy him just the same

Water Colour Wednesday - Floral Stamp

Hi Everybody,

These two cards have been created using a  Heartfelt Creations  floral stamp called Sun Kissed  Fleur.

There are other pieces to this stamp set and also a die to cut  out the larger flowers

For the background I used the Wood Pallet Background from Altenew and stamped it in brown
The flowers have been water coloured with Gansai Tambi and I added an enamel dot to the centre flower.
The layers have been wrapped in ribbon and then added to a bright pink card base

The Happy Birthday sentiment is one I have in my stamp collection, but they could be for any occasion you wanted.

Water Colour Wednesday - Canary Love

Hi Everybody,

This beautiful image is from Saturated Canary and it is called Canary Love

I have had this Digital Image for a long time and so you may have to search for it if it is one that you would like

The original image has a canary alongside the girl but to fit it into the frame I had to cut it off.

Nevertheless I don't think it spoils this card at all  and I was quite pleased with the end result.

I have used a mixture of Gansai Tambi water colours and Spectrum Noir pencils to get the look I wanted

I fussy cut around the image and raised it up on the grey background with foam pads and then added the frame also with foam.

I get my rolls of foam and foam pads from the £££ shops and I use it by the ton and never have any trouble getting hold of it

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and they are a mixture of Tulips, Gypsophila and Roses in two different sizes 10mm and 15mm

Some of you have written to me about the flowers and wanting to know what I have used so I will try and include them in the list each time I use them.

But if you don't know what to order ... because of the vast choice of designs when you go to WOC website ... then why not try the starter packs that have been put together by Paul especially for you to try.

Two Posts in One ...

Hi Everybody,

Because of the change in my Tuesday Tutorial and the Water Colour Wednesday this week I thought it may be a good idea to combine the two and create a card with some water coloured flowers.
I have used Spellbinders dies for my design and the flowers are bright and cheerful.
Spellbinders Supplies:
Other Supplies:
  • Rose pink and white card from Papermill Direct
  • Gansai Tambi water Colours
  • Water Colour Card
  • Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen
  • Foam pads of varying thicknesses
Instructions:

With the largest die #8 from the Matting Basics cut two panels and create a hinged card
Hand cut a slightly smaller layer in rose pink to leave a thin border around the edges
Cut another layer in white, again leaving a small border,  and emboss in the folder.
(The card will be wider than the folder so emboss most of it and then move the card along to emboss the remainder.
Partially cover the folder with the embossing plate and run through the machine.
The pattern is busy enough not to notice any discrepancies in it )
Glue the two layers together and add to the base card with foam tape between to give dimension
With the solid die to Medallions Three cut one piece in rose pink and then with both parts together cut a filigree layer in white
Add these two together with foam pads between the layers and then more foam on the back of the pink card
Stamp, colour and cut as many flowers and leaves as you would like for your card
I stamped the sentiment twice and then used the banner die to cut each word separately

Add the Medallions layer to the card and place a pearl in each corner
Arrange the flowers in the centre panel as you like them and use foam pads of varying thicknesses under them and the leaves.
Keep two of the smaller flowers to one side
Add foam to the banners and arrange on the flowers then add the smaller flowers so that they just overlap the banners.
Add a little shading to the banners to make them look curved
Lightly add the glitter pen to the flowers for a little sparkle

Water Colour Wednesday - Floral Card

Hi Everybody,

A really simple card to make  and I have used Gansai Tambi to water colour the flowers and leaves.

It is from a set by Altenew called Peony Scrolls and it has a matching die set to help you get a neat look.

I got mine from Sevenhills Crafts and the sentiment is also Altenew ... Painted Inspiration

I have added in some sequins and they are a big bag of them from the £££ shop and they go a long long way.

The background is created with Altenew Mini Inks and the Brush Strokes stamp from Spellbinders.

Not a lot to this one but I think it turned out OK

Water Colour Wednesday - Pink Tulips

Hi Everybody,

A really simple card for todays water colour but one that I quite like.

This is an image from Just Inklined and is one I have done many times before.

It is on the CD The Next Big Thing and I always say that it is sad that this CD is no longer available

So if you have it treasure it as there is so much on this disc. And if you do manage to find it any where snap it up.

This is just a simple coloured image layered onto some spotty card and then wrapped with ribbon.

I added a pearl flourish around the cup and some larger pearls in the top corner

You could add any sentiment to this that you liked and it would suit any occasion.

Water Colour Wednesday-Tropical Blooms

Hi Everybody,

This little stamp set was free with a magazine and it was featured in the video

It is a really versatile stamp set and as a free gift it was such a bonus as there are so many on the A4 sheet

For this card I stamped the flower and then masked it off and add the image again.

I used other parts from the set to add more interest around my flowers and then I painted them with Gansai Tambi watercolours.

I added some white dots to the flowers and that brought them more to the forefront of my picture

Dotted with sequins as a finishing touch and the card is ready to send. Vary the sentiment to suit the occasion  and the recipient

You will find more of my ideas using this stamp set in this months
Die Cutting Essentials 20 magazine on sale on the 26th january 17.

Water Colour Wednesday - Moon Monsters !!

Hi Everybody,

I had fun creating this bright card using Gansai Tambi watercolours and a stamp set that I bought from a craft show last year.

It is from Woodware and is called  "The Blimps" and there are three different creatures in the set.

So for the card I created the background with Faded Jeans Distress Inks and then spritzed it with water to create the sky.

The bottom part of the card is grey for the moon that they are standing on

The sentiment stamp is from a free set that I showed you in a video is called  Up In The Air

The world is a die cut from Spellbinders World View  and I simply added that with foam pads underneath.

Stamping the images, colouring them and then cutting allowed me to add more foam pads under them to raise them up

And I added Glossy Accents to the eyes for effect.

I really like this card and I think it is one that children will love as a birthday card

Water Colour Wednesday - Bear Hugs

Hi Everybody,

This pretty little Bear Hugs card would be ideal for a childs birthday.

The bear stamp and dies are from Clearly Besotted and their store is due to re open again in April

There are lots of sentiments that you can buy to match with it and dies to cut out both the bear and the banner

I created the background with Distress Inks and a blending tool and then took a block Birthday stamp and in the same colour ink simply stamped over the blending

It leaves a very feint impression that can be seen better when the card is in the hand.

The bear has been coloured with Gansai Tambi  water colours and cut out with the matching die.

Both sentiments have been stamped and cut out with dies and all the die cuts have foam pads underneath them.

The balloons are from a panel that I had already created with Brusho Crystals and I cut them with a little balloon die that I have in my "stash" and I used a white Sharpie pen to add pattern to some of them

I trimmed down the panel to fit the front of an A2 card and left a small border along one edge

Another quick and easy card to make

Water Colour Wednesday - Colour Wash Alphas

Hi Everybody,

This was a really easy and quick card to make and I have used a large Alphabet Stamp to make the letters.

I simply colour washed a piece of card in pale blue paint and then stamped over the top of it with a script stamp.

Using the alphabet I stamped the words that I needed in black ink and heat embossed them with clear powder

I cut them out with scissors and added foam pads to the back and then added them to a panel of dotty card created with a stencil and embossing paste

After the paste is dry it leaves a raised effect and I layered this with turquoise card and once the letters are in place I added in some sequins

The "Wishes" is from the stamp and matching die set called That Is All by W+9

Water Colour Wednesday-Tantrum !!

Hi Everybody,

This little girl having a tantrum always reminds me of my Grand Daughter.

I love the way she kicks the parcel in temper and the look on her face is priceless.

It would suit so many stroppy kids that you will always be able to find a use for this image with a different caption underneath

It is from Lily of the Valley and I have had it a ling long time and I have coloured it many times in other mediums, but this one is done with water colours.

I kept the colours soft with just a hint of shadow around the character

The finished card is only A2 so it will fit into a standard sized envelope and there is no depth to it either

Apart from the time taken to colour it, it is ready quickly and one I am sure you will enjoy playing with

Water Colour Wednesday - Train and Carriage

Hi Everybody,

This blue card would be perfect for a small boys birthday and it was quick and easy to do.

I have used some dotty blue card for the background and this one is from the Craft Shows

I wrapped it with blue ribbon before adding it to the base card

The stamp I have used is from Clearly Besotted but at the moment they are taking a break.

So the stamp won't be available to purchase until next year so keep a look out for it.

I have simply used Distress Inks to add the colours to my train and carriages and then I used the matching die set to cut them out.  The rail is p[art of the stamp set and the wheels and piffs of steam are from the die set.

Altogether a pretty card and of course the train set could be for a girl also

Water Colour Wednesday-Lazy Rabbit

Hi Everybody,

This lazy rabbit just lying around is from the CD The Next Big Thing from Just Inklined

And every time I use this CD I have to tell you that it is no longer available

You may be able to find a copy if you search for it.

And if you already have it then take another look at the fantastic characters on there

It is such a good collection of all sorts from sports to florals and I use it regularly throughout the year for all occasions.

This one has been  water coloured a long time ago with Distress Inks and then mounted onto pink card.

It could do equally well for male and female cards ... obviously not with pink !!!
But I think this is such a cute rabbit and sat with the carrot was perfect for a friend who was retiring.  Best job in the World !!

Water Colour Wednesday - Spring Chicken ??

Hi Everybody,

I bought this stamp a while ago from the craft shows that I go to and it really made me smile.

It is a Woodware stamp called  No Spring Chicken   and the legs can be removed if you wished.

You can sit the chicken on her nest complete with as many eggs as you wanted

I have coloured her with Gansai Tambi water colours and pencils and tried to give her feathers.

But I think it would have been better with the shades darkened more

Even so I think this is a really cute  stamp set that would suit many occasions.

I will be using this again and varying the scene for another fun card

Water Colour Wednesday - Boy with Teddy

Hi Everybody,

Today cards is using an image from the CD Pretty Tuff by Polkadoodles.

This CD has been around for some time but there are some really good images and they are all for boys.

You can print them off already coloured for you or just the line drawings for you to colour in yourself

Through your printer you can also resize them to suit the card or project you are  making

Here I have used Gansai Tambi water colours and add buttons along the side as decoration.

The blue spotty and striped card is from AnnaMarie Designs  and I have layered them all up with Kraft card onto a White base

Water Colour Wednesday - Get Well Soon ...

Hi Everybody,

Here's a little card that I had some fun creating a while ago and I made it as a get well card.

The image is from the CD The Next Big Thing by Just Inklined and it is one I have used many times.

There are lots of fun images on that CD and if you have it then it's time to look at it again in case there is something that you missed.

If you don't have it then you will need to search for it as it has been discontinued for quite a few years now

To create this card I use only blues and deepened the shadows by being a little heavier with the colour.

The Get Well Soon was simply hand drawn in squiggly lines around the edge of the card and it's not supposed to be neat and tidy.

It gave the recipient a good laugh when it was given and that has to make you feel better straight away
