Sunflower Card

Hi Everybody,

I am adding a card today that I made when we did the Craftathon last week. This was an appeal to raise money to help the people in the Ukraine.

I am sure that by now you are aware that we raised over £7000 and this will go in some small way to help, and I know we all wish that there was more that we could do.

There where some lovely projects created on the day and many names that many of you will already know.

Later on today Lou Collins, who as one of the hosts on the day, will be on the Craft Store showing you the latest of my collections called Butterfly Trails.

I have sent samples to her to show you what the dies can help you to make and I have several videos lined up as well. This set is so versatile and I am really happy with it.

Friends Card

 Hi Everybody

Todays card is from a really old Spellbinders die set that I have in my collection and I haven't used it in a long time.

I created a 6" square base card  and layered it with lemon paper. The hands have been cut from different shades of card and  I have added rings in different areas of the fingers.

I used gold or silver mirror card to create them, and added gemstones to some of them.

I thought it would be a lovely card to send to a really good group of people that you enjoy being with, just to say "Hello" or maybe add a little message to the inside for them.

The hands are not very big but they could be posed in other ways to make them different.

It is a die set that you could have some fun with. I really don't know if it is still available from Spellbinders, but I do know that other companies have similar ones on the market.

Spellbinders "Need A Rope"

Hi Everybody,

This is an embossing folder that I have had in my stash for years. It is one of my favourites from my old Spellbinders Days.

It is called "Need A Rope" but is so long ago that it is now no longer available

Here I have embossed the pink card for a really deep look and then rounded all the corners off as I layered up the card.

The focal point is the white Grand Vinery from the Finishing Touches range by  Creative Expressions.

I have cut it three times and then stacked them up together for dimension.

I have done the same with the Thank You sentiment and the top layer is in gold glitter card.
A little red heart finishes off the design and the word Heartfelt is tucked alongside.
Very clean and simple

I have been a bit late adding my blog posts this week, so please scroll back through the pages to see what you have missed.

Spellbinders lovely Lilac

Hi Everybody,

This pretty card was created with one of the new dies to Spellbinders last year and it is the Lovely Lilac die set from Stephanie Low

I have cut the flowers out several times and then ink blended the colour underneath  them and onto the die cuts before adding them to the card again

The background has been stencilled very lightly with pale green ink and then dots added in corresponding colours

I added some sequins and after die cutting the sentiment several times and stacking them I covered them with Glossy Accents to make them stand out.

P.S. If YOU entered the draw for last Friday Freebie then please scroll back to check if you have own

Pretty Feathers

Hi Everybody,

This card is created with some of the feathers that are from Spellbinders and they are on the front of a 5x7 card so you can see that they are quite large.

I stencilled the background to blend in with them and the die itself is in two parts.

I cut the solid piece from pink and layered the black filigree piece cut three times and stacked together over the top.

This gave me lovely deep feathers to add to my card.

The sentiment is from a stamp that was with a magazine and it just sat very neatly at the bottom of the card.

Backing the panel onto black card gave me a thin borer around the edge that tied everything together and then I added them to a white tent fold base.

Change the colours and this would be ideal for male cards and quite a good look too.
Not too masculine but more than suitable

Time For Tea ...

Hi Everybody,

These pretty cards are created with some of the new Coffee/Tea dies from Spellbinders and they make quick and easy cards.

Perfect if you wanted to invite friends round for a coffee morning or a lovely afternoon tea

The sentiment is from a magazine gift that was out a while ago and it came in to good use on this design

I have used Copics to colour both and for the top one I used a flower stamp to add the pattern to the card

For the one to the left I used a white gel pen to add the pattern.

The pen was  a bit on the dry side though and it wouldn't colour smoothly

It still turned out to be a pretty card but I thought I could try edging the rim and the handle with some gold and see how that looked

Here is the card once I had done that and it does look better with the gold paint.

Spellbinders Rosy Summer Flowers

Hi Everybody,
This large and pretty bloom is from Spellbinders and it comes in two parts.

The outer die cuts the solid layer and the inner one gives you the shape and petals to your flower.

I have coloured mine with Copics to add shading to the leaves and petals.

I have added them to a Letterpressed background created with my own Sunburst Embossing Folder which is new to the 6x6 Collection from
Card Making Magic

I have added in a frame made with the Nesting Circles and Quatrefoil Trellis and topped it all with the Birthday Sentiment.

Nuvo Crystal Drops have tied everything together and I am quite happy with the result to my 6x6 top folded card

Spellbinders Baroque Filigree

Hi Everybody,

Today's card is created with one of the new Cut & Emboss folders from Spellbinders.

And it does exactly as it says and cuts and embosses all in one go through your die cutting machine

The result is a beautiful pattern in your card that would look wonderful Letter pressed

For my card I have simply matted and layered it with pink and grey.

The sentiment is from the 6x6 Collection and that has also been cut in pink with a grey shadow effect

These folders are so easy to use and there are several designs for you to choose from

Spellbinders Rosy Summer Flowers

Hi Everybody,

Today's card is using one of the new dies from Spellbinders and this one is called Rosy Summer Flowers from the Good Vibes Collection by Stephanie Low

For the background I have blended three different shades of green and then stencilled over the top with white ink.

This gives a really cool and subtle look to the card and makes the white of the flowers stand out more.

It was a really quick and simple card to make and the black sentiment adds drama to the front.

I added the long stamped sentiment underneath with foam tape and that is from the Crafti Potential Words dies

Pretty in Pink ...

Hi Everybody,

This card is another of the ones created with the Water Bleaching Technique
I added a video on the process last week in different colours and they are really lovely cards and oh so easy to do. Click the link to refresh your memory

For this one I used Fired Brick, Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick and blended them well together.

Then with Wilted Violet I painted in the bleached butterflies again

I used clean water to splatter the front to the card and blotted it off with kitchen towel.

This card has used a Spellbinders stamp and Mermaid Lagoon, Blue Print Sketch, and Broken China.

Then the flowers painted back with Twisted Citron

Both are lovely vibrant cards and well worth adding the technique to your repertoire of card making skills

Tuesday Tutorial - Spellbinders Christmas

Hi Everybody,

It's not that far away now and so here is a Christmas Card to get me in the mood to make more. This one is using Spellbinders A2 sized dies but I have made the card bigger and I will show you how I did this as the layering progresses
Spellbinders Supplies:
  • A2 Matting Basics A
  • Water Lilies Deco Accents
  • Merry Christmas
  • Mosaic Vine Leaves
  • Platinum Die Cutting Machine
Other Supplies:
  • Flowers and Holly leaves from Wild orchid Crafts
  • Glitter from Glitter Magic
  • Card from Papermill Direct
Instructions:
With dies #6 and 8 from Matting Basics cut the larger die in gold and the smaller in some patterned paper (Die #1 is always the smallest)
From the Water Lilies dies cut #3 in red and #2 in gold
Layer the patterned piece onto the red layer and then both onto the gold card with foam pads between
Layer these onto another piece of patterned paper and let these now determine the size of your card base ....
... by placing them onto the fold of an A4 piece of gold card and trimming to the size you want it.
You can make your borders as wide as you like ... I kept mine quite narrow
Cut the sentiment die out twice in red and gold and layer them together.
See which way round you prefer them to be stacked  ... I decide on the red shadowed by the gold
I added the words to my card front with a double layer of trimmed foam pads underneath to give a really deep effect and the picture shows you how it looks from the side
Cut the vine and trim to the size that you require and add to the card front with Poinsettia flowers and Holly leaves  Dot the flowers with glue and sprinkle with glitter for a sparkly effect
There is your pretty card all ready to send for someone to display on their mantle shelf

So a quick and easy card for today

Instructions:
Fold an A4 piece of white card in half along the short side and then cut in half to produce two tent fold cards
Cut another slightly smaller layer to leave a small border around the edges and emboss this piece
With bright gold card cut the Frame die and if you care fully position the die into the centre of a 5x7  panel then you will get all three pieces from the die as shown above.
I will be using the two pieces to the right but the other one will be kept for another project
Savvy Crafting !!
Add the filigree piece to the embossed panel.
Add the smallest solid piece with foam pads underneath to the centre of the card.
Wrap with ribbon around the layers before adding to the base card
Stamp and emboss the sentiment of your choice and cut with the oval to fit the verse

All my supplies are from Craft Stash so easy to shop as they are all in one place and the prices are good too.

The video is Christmas Easel Card  and I really enjoyed working with the dies.

Lots more videos to come using this collection and if you bought the set then I hope you are enjoying playing with them
